Mercari Fee Calculator

Mercari charges 10% and — since the January 2025 restructure — no seller payment processing fee. Most guides still add 2.9% + $0.50 that sellers no longer pay. One detail they do miss: the 10% is charged on the buyer-paid shipping too.

What Mercari actually takes in 2026

One number: 10% of the completed order. No listing fee, no monthly fee, and since January 2025 no separate payment-processing fee charged to sellers. The buyer pays a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee at checkout, which raises the price they see but never touches your payout.

Older guides are wrong about the processing fee

A large number of fee calculators still add 2.9% + $0.50 for payment processing on top of Mercari's 10%. That describes the pre-2025 schedule. Mercari moved the fee burden to the buyer's protection fee and removed the seller-side processing charge, which means those tools overstate your cost by about three percentage points — on a $100 sale, roughly $3.40 of profit that does not exist.

The shipping line is fee-bearing

Mercari's 10% applies to the item price and the shipping the buyer pays. Charge $8 for postage and $0.80 of it goes to Mercari, so a $8 label reimbursed at $8 leaves you $7.20. The fix is either to add roughly 11% to the shipping charge or to price shipping into the item and offer free shipping — the second is cleaner for conversion, provided you remember that the 10% then applies to the inflated item price.

Mercari is the cheapest of the resale apps on fees. At 10% with no processing charge it undercuts Poshmark's 20% at every price above $15, and it undercuts eBay's ~14% everywhere. The trade-off is audience size, not cost: Mercari's buyer base is smaller, so sell-through matters more than the fee difference.

Mercari Fee Calculator — FAQ

How much does Mercari take per sale in 2026?

A flat 10% selling fee on the completed order — the item price plus any shipping the buyer paid. There is no seller-side payment processing fee, no listing fee and no monthly subscription.

Does Mercari charge sellers a payment processing fee?

No. Mercari removed the separate seller processing fee in January 2025. Older guides that add 2.9% + $0.50 on top of the 10% are describing the previous fee structure and overstate your costs by roughly three percentage points.

Is Mercari's 10% charged on shipping?

Yes. The fee is calculated on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, so charging exactly your label cost means Mercari takes a percentage of the postage. Add around 11% to the shipping charge, or build shipping into the item price and offer free shipping.

Who pays the Mercari Buyer Protection fee?

The buyer, at checkout. It is 3.6% of the item price plus shipping and it is not deducted from your payout — but it does raise the total the buyer sees, which matters when they compare your listing against the same item on eBay or Poshmark.

Mercari or Poshmark for resale?

On fees, Mercari wins at almost every price: 10% flat versus 20% above $15. Poshmark wins on fashion audience, social sharing and bundles, which can produce a higher sale price and faster sell-through. For items under $15 Poshmark's $2.95 flat fee can be cheaper, but both are poor venues for very cheap inventory.
